World Food Day (16 October) marks 80 years of global action to end hunger and strengthen food security. This year’s theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” calls on all of us to unite in creating a more sustainable and equitable food system.
As we celebrate this milestone, Tiger Brands takes time to reflect on the work we’ve done and the journey still ahead. In partnership with Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club, including the ladies’ squad, Tiger Brands supported the Tshireletso Orphanage and Home Base Care Centre in Tshwane — donating food hampers, installing a water tank, and helping plant a vegetable garden to promote long-term sustainability and access to nutritious food.
“Our collaboration with Mamelodi Sundowns gave us the opportunity to demonstrate the power of unity in bringing about positive change in local communities,” says Preeya Naidu, Manager: Corporate Social Investment, Tiger Brands.
With more than 12 million South Africans facing hunger daily, World Food Day reminds us that nourishing communities and protecting natural resources must remain top priorities. Guided by our sustainability pillars — Nourishing Communities, Growing Sustainably, and Building Resilient Futures — Tiger Brands remains committed to working hand in hand for better foods and a better future for all.
